My Career Update: You Pick the Appropriate Quote
A couple of weeks ago, I wrote a post here telling you about an upcoming career change. I couldn't say much about the move I was making then, but now I can fill you all in now with all the details.
First, let me say a sincere "thank you" to everyone who sent me kind notes, comments, or tweets after reading the post. I appreciate the support and encouragement. It's great to know that you're all out there.
Now...onto the info.
I tried to come up with a quote that explained the situation, but realized that none really worked and they all sounded a bit corny, as quotes sometimes do. So, to avoid annoying or offending anyone, I'll let you pick the appropriate quote depending on what type of quote you prefer. Here are your options:
- Absent -- no quote at all, simple, never corny, but sometimes uninspired
- Serious and introspective -- generally a proverb or psalm, likely doesn't make sense, never offensive
- Movie-based -- the source of most quotes and there's one for every situation, 80% of this type of quote come from 10% of all the world's movies
- Groan-inspiring -- various sources, often from song or band you've never heard of, sure to illicit "ugh" sounds from most people
Pick a category and read your selected quote below.
- Absent: "" -- Anonymous
- Serious and introspective: "The more things change, the more they stay the same." -- French proverb
- Movie-based: "Just when I think I'm out, they pull me back in." -- Michael Corleone, Godfather III
- Groan-inspiring: "Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end." -- Closing Time by Semisonic
<groan>
Okay, in all seriousness, here's the long-story, short: I'm back with my original company, Bridge Worldwide. Previously, I was Director of Strategic Planning, but now I'll be taking on the newly created role of Director of Social Media. I'm sure I don't need to tell any of you reading this post about the importance of social media. We're finding that we're working in this area more and more and need to formalize our capability here, so that's where I come in.
For those paying attention, you've no doubt noted that I said in my departure post that I was heading to a different company. That was the plan, but the lure of Bridge and this new opportunity was too compelling, so I'm back at my old desk once again without ever started with the other opportunity I referenced. It's a long story, but we'll leave it at that. Bottom line: I'm really happy to be here and am looking forward to this new challenge.
One more important note...I'm back as the author of Dose of Digital, so for all of you who expressed some regret that I wouldn't be writing the blog any longer, pick your chin up and get ready for some more doses of digital (and join us on Facebook...sorry, can't resist some promotion). I should note that I'll be spending less time focusing exclusively on pharma and healthcare and more time with our clients that range from P&G to Red Bull and everything in between, so the posts to Dose of Digital might be a bit less frequent. However, Dose of Digital will remain all about pharma and healthcare, as it's my personal passion, and hopefully it will benefit from even more insights and learnings from other industries. In the very near future, I'll be starting a company blog about social media (I know, I know...as if there aren't enough already) that I hope will have the same success as Dose of Digital. More to come on that, but I'm pretty excited about the idea. It's not just another social media blog, so stay tuned.
And...just in case...if you're interested in hearing what Bridge Worldwide can do for you in social media, then feel free to contact me.
Thanks again.
